Pre-registration

Lurgan’s sole mission is the promotion & celebration of spoken Gaeilge.

BEARTHA TEANGA Í A LABHAIRT

The goal of each course is to establish an all-Gaeilge community where English is put to one side so as to facilitate an immersive participation in language attainment.

Students applying to attend Lurgan 2k27 need to clearly demonstrate that they categorically and unconditionally intend to converse exclusively as Gaeilge with their fellow students at all times / in all situations / in all locations.

It is Lurgan’s responsibility to endeavor that enrolled students genuinely and honestly intend to fully comply with and actively contribute to this keystone requirement.

The enrollment process

To this end the following steps need to be completed to conclude the enrollment process.

  1. Preregister by undertaking a number of audio based self-correcting multiple choice tasks prior to accessing an application form - August 2026

  2. All pre-registered forms will be processed in early September when the first round of invites to complete registration are forwarded.

  3. Geography, former students, sex, school year, siblings are weighted criteria when issuing invites.

  4. Once registered, students will be signed up to OIDE (Lurgan’s online platform)and will have 1 month to complete the first two 2 modules of “Essential Vocab. (until the end of October). This work is predominantly oral where applicants make their own recordings which are subsequently analyzed and assessed by OIDE.

  5. On completing the two Essential Vocab. modules students will undertake a one to one conversation (via Zoom) with a teacher from Lurgan. This conversation / interview will be based on the two completed Essential Vocab modules. - November

  6. Students are further required to further undertake the 3 more modules in OIDE ( 1 per month) (January - March)

  7. The remaining 4 Essential Vocab. modules are optional.

The pre-registration tasks

What each applicant completes to pre-register.

Preregistration requires that students (not somebody on their behalf) complete 3 audio based multiple choice tasks: Each task has 16 questions and a minimum of 12 correct answers are required to “pass”.

These tasks may be attempted over a period of time and as many times as is required.

It is important that the applicants themselves complete these tasks as a demonstration of their intent & interest in acquiring spoken Gaeilge. They will be further required, as registered students, to complete independent learning modules / record their own voices in order to complete enrollment process

The steps in pre-registration process are as follows

  5. 5

Registration invite — from 5th September, Lurgan will issue invites to complete registration and pay a deposit. Completing pre-registration does not guarantee that you will be invited to register and pay.
